NSW visit

In the first week of the school holidays (last week of September) we flew to Sydney and stayed in NSW for a week.  For the first few nights we stayed at Deb’s grandparents’ house in Woy Woy on the Central Coast.  It was great for Bethany to renew her relationship with her great-grandparents and for Jamieson to spend his first real amount of time with them.

Jamieson's first swing!

While we were there we visited friends in Bonnells Bay, had a visit from Uncle Noel, went to the beach (not for a swim though as it was too cold!), watched the pelicans being fed, and collected shells at the bay.  Jamieson slept surprisingly well during the nights (thank goodness!), just not quite so long in his daytime naps (too much going on I guess).

Then we spent a few nights at Aunty Robyn & Uncle Michael’s house in Sydney.  Bethany loved having a horse ride there and seeing all the other animals, although we weren’t quite so fond of the roosters who insisted on starting their crowing around 3am every morning!  It was funny to see Jamieson’s face though when he first heard the roosters in the middle of the night, looking around to see where on earth that strange sound was coming from!

We also had a day at Taronga Zoo (together with Aunty Robyn, Aunty Julie and John), and after the first hour or so it warmed up to be a beautiful sunny day with great views over the harbour.  Unfortunately Bethany wasn’t feeling 100%, so by early afternoon I went home earlier with her, while the others stayed a little longer.  Bethany and I caught the ferry across the harbour, then the double-decker train across the Harbour Bridge, and then the bus.  Even though she wasn’t feeling well and was very tired, she still enjoyed it.

The next day we flew back home – Bethany ate hardly anything for about 24 hours, including turning down one of her favourite meals of sausages and wasn’t even interested in McDonalds for lunch at the airport!  It was only a cold though – she often gets like that for the first 24 hours or so (including a temperature on and off) and then comes right, which is what happened this time too.

So last week was spent doing heaps of washing after our holiday and seeing lots of Bethany’s friends during the last week of school holidays.  Then back to school for term 4 yesterday – where has the year gone?!
